MEET TAMAR
Tamar Peltz
Owner, La Dolce Vita Kitchen
My food passion has directed me down a holistic food path. My new path has been influenced by my food background, family illnesses, and overall determination to improve world health and change our food buying and eating habits.
In American society, we are moving away from the kitchen, and closer to fast foods and restaurants. Our health is diminishing and our health care system is not coming to our aid. Learning how my body functions and how food affects it, has been exhilarating and nourishing and I want to pass my knowledge on to others.
In 1999, I started my own restaurant, pizzetta211, featuring local, seasonal, and organic pizzas, soups, salads, delicious side dishes and homemade desserts.
We purchased directly from farmers, supported our neighborhood, and educated our customers on our ingredients and cooking ideas.
I spent many years before and after working as a buyer for Whole Foods and Bi-Rite Market. I have traveled to small villages in Italy, Greece, France, Israel, and Mexico and observed how they eat. For the most part, their kitchens are modest. They shop daily in their open markets, cook from their past, and eat with intention and gusto. Their pace is slower and meals are eaten at the table with others.
These experiences with food have lead to the creation of La Dolce Vita Kitchen, whose purpose is to provide a service to people who want to be healthier and take care of themselves and the planet!
